On Monday I started working for Shawn Levy, and within the first hour I realized that I should probably issue an advance apology to my friends and family in case I take forever returning phone calls, text messages, or e-mails... The pace of my new job is extremely quick; there's tons of work, reading, and research to be done; plus there'll always be a lot of errands I'll need to run... basically, I'm going to be busier than I can handle and that's just the way I way I like it... Fortunately, I couldn't have a better teacher than Shawn and his assistants. He wants me listening in on every important phone call, asking him questions whenever I'm curious, and reading every script that he's offered or that he and his producers are developing. As of Monday, I became a part of the inner circle and so I'm privy to every piece of information that concerns Shawn or 21 Laps Productions (his company)... of course I gotta keep a lot of that private so you'll have to forgive me if a keep a tight lip regarding certain matters... My mind was blown by lunchtime of my first day. I can't imagine what it's going to be like after I've spent a couple of months at this job.
The great thing is, I came along at such an exciting time for Shawn and his company. "Night at the Museum" has grossed well over $500 million worldwide and now it seems like every studio in Hollywood is looking for Shawn to direct or produce their next movie. He's been offered movies with Will Smith, Mark Wahlberg, Julia Roberts, Tom Cruise and Ben Stiller (among others). Plus, 21 Laps Productions has over 10 scripts that have been greenlit by various studios and so they're now looking to attach talent and directors (...which means that they're holding lunch meetings, as well as "meet and greets" in the office, with all sorts of big name people).
Here are some highlights thus far:
- I listened to Shawn talk shop with Ari Emanuel (the real-life Ari off of which Piven's character is based)
- I had a 10-minute converstation with Paul Feig (creator of "Freaks and Geeks" and director of 7 "Arrested Development" episodes, as well as several "The Office" 2nd season episodes). It was nuts. He was waiting to meet with Shawn's producers and so I just started talking to him about "Arrested" and telling him how big of a fan I was. He directed the first season's finale ("Let Them Eat Cake"). We were going back and forth with GOB lines from that episode ("Bees??? Beads! BEES?!?!"... "Old Papa Bear likes his honey --- I didn't know we started calling him Papa Bear --- We never had the chance!!!"). He says that pound for pound, Will Arnett is the funniest guy in Hollywood. I also told him how much my friends and I loved the soundtrack to "Freaks and Geeks" (I specifically cited my favorite Seger song "You'll Accompany Me", which he used at the makeout party... he said it was an homage to Detroit).
- I got to listen to Carla Gugino's answering machine message and I'll tell ya, it sounds as sexy as she is hot (especially when she's naked)
-Unfortunately I was out of the office when the 45-minute Owen Wilson call took place, but I heard all about it. (on a sidenote, he and Kate Hudson are reportedly doing well... that wasn't addressed in the phone conversation but I figured it warranted mentioning)
It's going very well, and I'm definitely stoked for the future...

If you could do it all over again...
HELLOOO BOYS!
Soooo, it's a Saturday night and after an afternoon of drinking and getting ready to put on a MPH with some fellow ICFHers I got to thinking of how many things I need to do before I graduate, and one is to make a List for the end of the year before it's too late.
Now, while normally I hate to blantely copy ideas, I'm putting my pride aside for this one and saying you guys did a great f-in job in making the last few weeks of your college career memorable, so naturally i'd like to try and do the same.
SOOOOOOOOOoooooooo, this is where you come in. I've been collecting some ideas from my roomies but I thought it'd be interesting to hear some ideas from guys that have already done it all. So if you had to do it all over again, what are some of the things you would absolutely insist on (no, we won't go to kumas), or what are some things you wish didn't do (I can't think of any). In addition, what are some things you think you left out and wish you would have done? I'm willing to take all suggestions. Keep in mind that it's late in the year, so things like dinosaur bbq might not make it.
I'm counting on you boys....

So now that Audrey is "dead"...
I figured before this week's new ep of 24 airs I will share some of my suggestions/theories for/on the show concerning the newest revelation that Audrey was "killed" while over in China trying to rescue Jack:
First of all, when they showed pics of her "dead," her face was mostly covered and only showed her chin. Now while they also had "dna" evidence because she was so badly burned from a car accident, any person who has half a brain knows something is up, that she is not "dead"/she did not "die" and "accidental death"
So here are 2 places I hope that 24 takes this...
1)Jack drops the issue and gets onto saving the world for the rest of the season. He was shaken up and pissed this past episode, but with one more nuked up drone out there he will soon drop the whole "boo who Audrey is 'dead'" shtick and get onto stopping the terrorists.
HOWEVER, next season will be Jack tracking down the mystery that is Audrey's "death." This is my primary hope because it will scale the show back down. The first season was a very personalized "my family is in harms way" with the side of an assassination plot. Part of this show's failings is that it got too big too soon...how many "oh no the terrorists have bad weapons and we don't know how to stop them without inciting WW3" plot lines can you do before it gets old?
So I hold out hope that next season they will shy away from the huge life or death, save the world story line and just focus on Jack solving a very personal and contained problem
2)This past episode found the token Middle Eastern worker at CTU being targeted as a traitor because apparently the bad guys were being leaked info from her computer station. As we 24 pros know, if you ain't caught red handed and the only evidence they have is that it is from your "computer station"...its all bullshit bc apparently those CTU computers are easy as hell to hack into. So if it is not Nadia, then our other options for the rat are pretty slim: Bill, Chloe, Mike O'Doyle, and Chloe's ex husband whose name is escaping me...and none of these options are satisfying in the fact that it would be totally out of left field if one of them was suddenly a traitor
So here is what I suggest...Audrey is at some remote location tapping into CTU's computers and forwarding the bad guys the intel. We mustn't forget that she was under suspicion last season and could very easily have faked her "death"/been the one to give up Jack to the Chinese at the end of last season. Since The Nine is long gone, it is very plausible for the actress who played Audrey, again her name is escaping me and I am too lazy to IMDB her, to make a reappearance.
The other plus side to this would be to see yet another person very close to Jack betray him. Hey, if we are even lucky enough we will find out that all last season she was working with Jack's bro Grahm and possibly even screwing him behind Jack's back. This final betrayal, along with all the death and torture he has endured, could be what it finally takes to make him freak out and just shut down and cry in a curled up ball in a dark corner of CTU for the rest of the season while Mike O'Doyle takes the lead and finishes off those rascally Russians.

Good Parenting
While stuck in LA traffic, I had an epiphany... I realized that I could use MPH as a parenting tool.
Nowadays, I'll eat just about anything (...go ahead, make your jokes) --- but growing up, I was a very picky eater and I'm assuming my kids will be the same way. So when they're having trouble eating their green beans or corn or whatever, I'll sit them down in front of the TV and have them slowly chip away (minute by minute) at the pile of 60 green beans I set in front of them. Not only will this help to attach pleasant memories with healthy foods, but it will also teach them the important life lesson that:
Through patience and MPH, they can achieve anything...
May god have mercy on my wife.

I can't believe this hasn't come up yet
Rand, that's cool. If I could think of something funny that you should ask him I would have written it...instead of sitting here tongue-tied like a dumbass, just like I did at ESPN the weekend a couple of weeks ago.
Also - Why has nobody incorporated the NCAA tournament into Saturday's plans? Or did I miss that?
We need to get the games on early and drink to them. Here's a game: Drink whenever Gus Johnson practically shits himself over a routine pass. Drink whenever Nantz says something irrelevant. Waterfall green Skippy if a 12+ seed pulls an upset. (Now we're getting somewhere).
How about we form a Beirut bracket of the Saturday's games and play them out, with each of us representing different teams. I bet our beirut results will predict the tournament better than my bracket. Sorry, Lim, you can't be the Orange.
There's got to be more we can do with this...

Last Minute Stuff
I'm slowly getting ready to take off on Thursday night --- and while packing my bag, compiling CDs, making T-shirts and burning DVDs, I've been remembering things that I've been meaning to mention to you guys...
-If someone could bring two pristine copies of MPH and MPH2, I'd be much obliged. I need two clean copies that I can use as "masters" when burning more copies in the future (currently both of mine take a couple of video hits). Tony, if you still have the files saved on your Mac, I suppose you'd be able to burn two brand new copies... if you wouldn't mind (and if you still have the files).
-Jared, I left my "Kiss Kiss Bang Bang" DVD in Hoefl's room over Christmas Break. Hopefully you guys have found this. If so, I'd appreciate it if you could bring it up to IC with you. Gracias.
-Chris... Beer Baton... just a friendly reminder. I'm going to see if my mom can get some giant sparklers and I'll bring those up as well. Oooh, and if anyone stumbles across caution tape (that we can use as a finish line) that'd be cool. VICTORY!!!
-Mark, whenever you wanna buy me that High Life (as part of our Eagles-Giants playoff bet) I'll be ready to down it.
613,
Rand

Woohoo! all of this talk of making t-shirts and 613clubbing is so exciting! I think I am making my own tee-shirt, but am also interested in another... so count me in! The weather prediction also looks really good - all above 20 degrees and not too much snow!
Parking should be easy because both colleges will be on spring break, so i suggest prospect street rather than the front.
Sarah's room is completley empty so take full advantage - it just doesn't have any sheets or pillows.
Also -- I know this might be a pain, but we have been taking our shoes off when we come inside, just because of all the snow and salt, etc. sooo, if it's not too big of a problem, it would be greatly appreciated.
I left a bunch of pong balls on the shelves next to the big frige in the living room and the pink table is out in the hall ready to use.
And I can't remember if I've already posted this, but we don't have a front door knob (stolen at a party were we left rachel and courtney in charge for like 2 hours), so you will have to use the back entrance...not that the front is good anymore because of the damn bridge being closed.
Two last questions, when are you guys staying till, and are any of you allergic/mind that Bryce is going to have a puppy on Saturday?
OK that's way too much- can't wait!

Who needs work when you have next weekend?
I'm actually at work right now, actively not listening to a conference call. I have St. Paddy's on my mind.
Everyone has contributed ideas, and all of them look essential. There may not be enough time for them all, and I like Rand's itinerary, but given the amount of activities we'd like to accomplish I'd like to see a St. Paddy's Weekend 2007 To Do List, temporarily housed in Tina's living room.
Would it be too much to have To Do T-Shirts? Rand, is that a possibility? They can include boxes and we can carry around a marker to check off things as we do them.
If the shirts are too much, Chris I'm definitely seeing a smaller posterboard designed for the weekend.
I love the idea of continuous MPHs. That should include JBPH and CPH. And victory lap should be on Friday night, without a doubt.
Sam, I think this might help your uphill charge against "24" :

“That was the Illest…” A 613 St. Patty’s day Story
I want to accomplish a few things with this post and the first of those things is to try and add some cohesiveness to the ideas and suggestions floating around for next weekend. So after perusing the recent posts, I have attempted to compile them into a coherent list.
First the food(In no particular order):
-Stingers-I am saddened to hear Limmer’s rumor of the death of the stinger. If it is true should we let it die or should we try and find a replacement location to find one? (Part of the beauty of the Stinger was how disgusting/fantastic it was to be buying a $3 dollar foot long sandwich from a gas station. It gave it a certain charm.)
-CTB-I actually hate CTB (I think its overpriced, poorly made and really does not taste that good) but I understand that a lot of people enjoy it so it needs to be mentioned.
-PitaPit- I am sure not on everyone’s list but its on mine. (Steak pita with Cesar dressing actually.)
-Party Pack- I am going to say this now, the fact that no one has Combined the words Party Pack and thirty Rack in a sentence yet is well….Criminal. So to rectify this situation I propose that we have a Party Pack/Thirty Rack race.
-Tina’s Cupcakes- The more I hear the term “Tina’s cupcakes,” the more surprised I am that no dirty jokes have been made about the phrase. This is really a testament to how good the cupcakes are IMO.
-Sammy’s-I need a slice from Sammy’s, and I am confident it will happen. (As for the bridge being closed I feel that is a conspiracy by the City of Ithaca to prevent Mark and I from dropping soda’s over the edge….Not that we ever did that.)
-Bowl-O-Drome Cheese fries- Dependent on a trip to Bowl-O-Drome.
-DPDough-This one is going to hurt, physically and emotionally.
-Buffalo Chicken Sandwich from Wingz Just Fly- I am on the fence about this one and would not be to upset if it didn’t happen, but happy if it did and was good.
-Friendly’s-I really like the idea of brunch there on Sunday to say goodbye, but only if there is a line and Sam buys Tbell while we wait. (Also no one has mentioned Chilli’s.)
-State Street Diner- Alternate possible landing place for Sunday brunch.
-Wendy’s-I concur with Rand on this one, I might hit up the dollar menu when buying a thirty rack (but in all honesty probally won’t.)
WINGS(Lehigh Valley House)-YES…6 Jack…..6 Golden….6 Medium….eaten in the following order one medium, one Jack, one Golden, Repeat.
I can foresee the following eating schedule:
Friday lunch Pita Pit (or CTB)
Friday dinner- WINGS!
Friday post bar-Sammy’s
Saturday breakfast-Keystone Light
Saturday midday meal-Party Pack/Thirty Rack race
Saturday dinner-Guiness /Car Bomb
Saturday post bar-Order DPDough or Wingz
Sunday Brunch-Friendly’s
Sunday lunch car ride meal-Stinger
Maybe squeeze in some Bowl-O-Drome Cheese fries Friday night or Saturday at noon.
Bars:
-Moonshadows-I am sure we will stop there at some point.
-2nd Floor-If only to stop in and order a High Life.
-Korova-Still upset about the guy new trivia guys.
-The Creeker (YES really)
-The Plum Tree-My weekend will be empty with out it.
-Ruloffs-Could stroll over after Saki
-Dunbars-See Above.
-Lehigh Valley Charter House-Friday Night Dinner.
-McCawber's-
-Benchwarmer's-Foosball
-KillPatricks-
So we really need to game plan when we are going to CT for Saki bombs.
EVENTS:
-Victory Lap- Who doesn’t like running and scaling fences while drunk.
-Bowling- Play it by ear, hope for the best.
-Nude Photo Hunt-Definitely happening.
-Pee on Phones-We shall see.
-Trip to Kumas-Not gunna Happen.
-Beirut-Will happen.
-Survivor Flip Cup-Depends on How much we wan to destroy Tina’s house.
-7-Eleven Doubles with Skippy-Check.
-Mario Kart Drinking Game-This would be a Coup if it happened.
-613 CLUB- Won’t happen or will it?
-Visit 613 and Circles-As long as I am drunk.
-Musuem-See Above.
-Trip to Horseheads-There is always hope, although I would settle for Rand screaming “We are going to Horseheads!” and “You are going the wrong way, Horseheads is thisway!” to strangers as we drove places.
Pickup basketball-would be enjoyable but I do not plan on being sober this weekend.
POWER HOURS
College Power Hour-
MPH –
MPH2 –
MPH3 –
I think we should just have Tina’s TV in the living room running the power hour DVD’s NONSTOP throughout the weekend, so you can stroll by and participate when ever you feel like it. Walking past after a Beirut match, a minute from MPH2 might catch your eye and BOOM 25 minutes later you stand up and have no idea what happened.
As for qoute/theme of the weekend I am going with “PUKE AND RALLY!” which will just beat out “SHIT AND RALLY!” Speaking of number 2, down here on the island we have started using the phrase “Put in Work” to describe the event as in the sentence: “Wow, I can’t believe I just ate a whole party pack, I gotta go put in some work.” Or “Yeah, Sam always takes his pants off in the hallway before he goes to put in work.”
T-SHIRTS
I am clinging to the idea that we create homemade t-shirts for this event or coordinate and all where matching shirts (Slope day, Beer golf, Champions). Just throwing that out there.
That is all for now.

St Paddy's events/food continued
First, and most importantly:
Trip to Kumas - NO. I am willing to stifle my disgust with Benchwarmers and go in to play foos in exchange for a guarantee that we will never return to Kumas. Ever. For reasons that need no explanation.
Pudgies Party Pack - Hmmm. This is a close one. I'm not sure. Should go for 2 or 3 for the weekend? I guess it depends on Friday night, bc I assume we'll be eating two on Saturday. Stingers? Absolutely.
Which makes me think of massive shits. It's time to drop logs in the upper tanks at 613. Just putting that out there.
The Victory Lap is totally on, as long as Mark promises not to Shaun Livingston his knee climbing over the fence. That shit turned my stomach and makes me wince every time i go for a layup now.
I played Photo Hunt at a bar here, mistakenly thinking it was Nude Photo Hunt. Regular photo hunt sucks ass. Basically, that record is ours.
Some other activities: Shotgunning in front of Campus Center and the Library on our way to the victory lap. Checking the back door at 02-04 - it might still be open. Pick-up basketball in the gym, we could probably sneak in.
Anyone want to go to a museum?
I'm on for all the other activities. I think we can make at least half of those bars.
