Phillllllly

In my lifelong quest to be more like Rand Geiger, I am moving to philadelphia. I found out last week that I got a job at an ecommerce company just outside of the city. I am moving to Manayunk which is near villanova. My apartment is two blocks off mainstreet that has 10 to 15 bars. I'm moving in a little over a week.

MPH the iPod edition
So as my trip to LA draws closer I have two MPH related goals. The first is to successfully complete a MPH on an airplane. To do this I decided to put all the MPHs' on my iPod (which is the second goal). This is suprisingly easy (but time consuming). First I downloaded a program called handbrake (Older macs need version 9.1 not the newer one). After turning off auto updates (a must with the older version) I simply placed my MPH4 dvd into my superdrive, opened a finder window and dragged the video and audio folders onto the desktop (into a new folder called MPH4). After selecting that folder as the source and and selecting the iPod output settings (and waiting two hours) I had MPH4 on my iPod. I am currently transfering the others. I thought I would share this in case others wanted to add MPH to their iPods (For the ride home on the LIRR for example).

CHOKE - The Movie
I was totally unaware of this coming to the theatres this August till I was at work searching the comp to verify the release date of Chuck's newest book (comes out in May and is entitled SNUFF and is about a porn star to sets out to have the biggest orgy) that I saw a future release date of the movie cover edition of CHOKE
Apparently CHOKE did well at Sundance, winning the Best Ensemble Cast jury award.
Here is a vid of the director
and some updates on the movie (including its imdb page link) from Chucks site
Im pretty excited but at the same time surprised this one got past me

Totally Rad Flashback
So tonight I am going to a Matchbox 20 concert at Mohegan Sun and who is the opening act? No one other than Alanis Morrissette
Could this concert BE anymore of a 90's wet dream?

Tribute to Eli

There really is only one subject appropriate for my first blog post in months.
No it's not my embarrasing finish in the most recent 613 power rankings (which I'm sure I didn't help by missing out on the New Year's festivities). No it's not my domination of the fantasy football league for the 2nd year in a row. It's also not a description of my last shit (A fine idea for Dre to implement Bry's new picture game with). And finally it's not about my excitement for the upcoming X-Files Sequel (I'll leave that for T).
I'm using this oppurtunity to show off my boy Eli... a man everybody doubted (except Bry and I of course). A man every woman wants and every man wants to be. The finest quarterback in the history of time.
Watching him pick apart the patriots with ease reminded me of 613's most glorious victories (beating girls in basketball, winning cornell's trivia night, making chris puke on his birthday).
Any interest in an Eli Manning power hour? anybody? Bueller?
Increased Blog Participation
I think we can set it up so that everyone receives an email notification when there is a new post made. Would you guys be interested?

Super bowl thoughts
I just wanted to share my memories of the Super bowl (mostly because this blog needs an update).
Nothing, this is what I saw of Super bowl 42. It was the first Super bowl in almost two decades that I did not watch. I could not bring myself to watch the Patriots win again, and it was obvious they were going to win. I physically could not handle watching Brady lift that trophy, smile and talk about how special this moment was. I could not do it, and no amount of beer or chicken wings could convince me otherwise. So I spent a somber Sunday evening alone on my couch reading a tome about the reduction of social capital in the US over the last three decades. As a courtesy I walked to my computer to check the score: "Huh" I thought, "the Giants took the lead and ten minutes off the clock, but they settled for a field goal and we all know you do not beat the Patriots with field goals." I returned to my book and after another chapter, again a cursory glance at the score, 7-3 and all was right with the world. I visited an AOL site that had every Super bowl commercial mostly so I would not be lost in class when we discussed the event (Tangentially the Rocky parody gets an 8, it would have been a 10 if they recreated a certain beach scene). Another chapter read led to one more trip to the computer but amazingly the Giants had jumped to a 10-7 lead. Almost ten minutes left, way to much time I thought. But now I was intrigued, to afraid to turn the TV on (can not jinx anything) I sat at my computer watching ads and frantically updating the ESPN game track. When the Pats retook the lead I felt strangely comfortable, not happy in the slightest mind you but comfortable. It was what was supposed to happen, the bitchy, me first G-Men were not the type of team that could beat the mighty (and undefeated) Patriots. When Eli and the Giants got the ball back I thought there was no chance they could score. Nope another 4th quarter come back for Brady, the legend grows, greatest team ever, greatest quarterback ever yada yada yada. But the Giants kept moving the ball. Third and long, "Oh this has to be it no way Manning doesn't fold." By the time the screen flashed touchdown I was in disbelief. I watched the game end on Game track almost catatonic, dumbfounded by the events that had just transpired. The mighty had fallen, the Pats had lost. My faith in humanity was restored, if ever so slightly. So thanks Eli for reaffirming my faith in humanity because I just could not watch the Pats win again.
So I skipped the fun and exciting memories of watching a Super bowl with friends for the quite sanctuary of my apartment. As I poured my celebratory glass of apricot wheat from my growler; texting and calling 613ers I would not have had it any other way.
P.S. The originally reason for this post was to mention I will be in LA in 32 days and seeing that 32 is my favorite number I thought I sould mention it.

I'm hungover but pretty sure I made history last night
Yes. It's true. I drank way too much last night and I thank/blame 613.
Why? Well I had friends over and love to show off my MPH collection. After MPH2 went so well we decided to throw on the other on MPH3.
More people show up so I'm like and everyone is just AMAZED at the MPHs so I say,
"DON'T WORRY! I HAVE ANOTHER!!!"
So I throw on MPH 1 and way too many shots of beer, an "emergency beer run" and 2 chugging contests later I was like "Guys, guys we need to do this. We need to power through and watch MPH4 Kids!"
If I could remember what had happened on this point I would tell you that I'm almost certain I finished the 4th. However I can't remember if I was even standing. J - I'm pretty sure I called you to tell the exciting news, but I'm not quite sure how that conversation went. I think I just kept saying "I made history, I made history" even though thinking about it now I'd bet that Tony has definitely already done this.
Anyways - it took me about an hour to write this because my hands are shaking too much from this awful hangover type. I hope I did 613 proud and I can't wait to see you all!!!
Happy Holidays!
