Century Mark

Being jobless and living at home with a beautiful G5 apple computer, I felt obligated to complete a goal that I had set last semester. The MPH century mark and folks its coming along great. The hundred clips have been selected, their order is being finalized and it should be done by the end of the week. So that is my only update for now, hope everyone is enjoying home.

drink on,

-Tony

A good time in Virginia...

I've been back for about a day and I think I have already forgot the complete feeling of relaxation I felt down in Virginia. Hopefully these pics will spark something:

How good was Bill Bradley???

"A recurring knee injury to Knick center Willis Reed hampered his effectiveness and Pacer All-Star center Mel Daniels effectively neutralized the valuable Knick. The game was close throughout, with neither team leading by more than seven points the entire way. Knick guards Walt Frazier and Earl Monroe kept New York ahead with their offensive exploits against their outclassed Indiana counterparts, but the powerful Pacer frontline of George McGinnis, Roger Brown and Daniels kept the ABA alive. A three-point goal by Pacer veteran guard Billy Keller tied the game 102-102 with 10 seconds left in regulation. New York set up Bill Bradley for a final shot but his 20-footer from the corner rimmed out as time expired."

Its not over yet Rand, but early research shows that bradley choked under pressure.

help me help you!

i sent out some emails already but i thought i hadn't nagged sufficiently since i haven't gotten many responses. i need people to send me their addresses so that i can invite you to the engagement party, which will be on July 15 in my town in New Jersey. Also, let me know, realistically, if you're able to come. my parents are keeping the guest list pretty tight so if you can't come let me know so i can invite someone else in your place. You should all know that i'm battling my mom right now because i would rather invite you guys than my teenage cousins. it's a tough fight but i think i can win it! so send me an email with your status AND your address at zoe.paolantonio@gmail.com and i will continue to fight so that we can have a respectably sized reunion in just a few short months!! SEND THEM. i can't stress that enough. i love you all and i hope you're having an awesome time in VA. or ithaca. or home, wherever you may be. boston is starting to feel like home but i miss you all!

Working at Fenway

Well I have worked at Fenway Park for two days now and it has been an exciting experience.

The Highlights:

I have a basically backstage pass to Fenway Park
I get 50% off at the souvenir store and plan on buying Tina loads of clothing she has no interest in owning.

The Lowlights:

I dont think that i have great access to tickets
They cut my hours to 24 per week because they added two extra interns at the last moment
There is no parking and I now have an hour and fifteen min communte to work each morning

Although I miss 613, I have already had the Sumpreme omelet sandwich at Dunkin Donuts Twice. I am still trying to detox from those two and a half weeks of booze, chicken wings, and nightmares about Kumas Charmers. I visited Zoe and Dre's apartment and it is really nice and in a great location. I took them to breakfast and out to a restaurant in Boston.

The 24 finally was awesome. I cant wait to see what they do next season with Jack in China. You know the first part of the day he will be bleeding of death in Beijing and will end the day somehow in New York City killing terrorists.

I have to go watch the Red Sox take two of three off the Yanks

The First One Out

The trip home was quick; familiar. It felt like last summer, or the summer before except that I knew there wasn't going to be an August 26 when we could all catch up. In a way it felt like the trip to college. Then, I was leaving a group of friends I had built over four years to explore an entirely new environment. Then, we all said 'Let's stay in touch.' 'We'll visit you at college!' my friends said. I said the same thing. But, even on Cortaca, none of my high school friends came to Ithaca. In fact, aside from short emails and random phone conversations we've fallen out of touch. We're nowhere near as close as we were before because, clearly, friendships are cemented by life's details, the little things that happen when you see the same people 24/7. You guys are still in that mode now, watching TV together, going bowling on Thursday, shitting around in the cab. I'm not gonna be there for those details and, soon, we're all going to be in different places.

The picture of me on the fridge in the downstairs was taken when I was a sophomore in high school. In many ways, I felt just like that awkward kid when I came to IC. Living with all you guys, I feel, has turned me from an awkward fat kid into a semi-functional guy who's comfortable enough to say out loud: "Yeah, having sex with a corpse's vagina would be fun, but I think making a small hole in the stomach and screwing her intestines would be even better. Plus, then the mung would be more like shotgunning." So thanks for that guys.

I don't want to fall out of touch with everyone like I did with my high school friends or, actually, like most of our summers from IC when I didn't talk to any of you. So, like Chris said, let's all use the blog even for mundane shit to keep up the details we're going to be missing in person.

So, that's it. We're gonna send out engagement party invites soon, and, Let's Go Arsenal.

This is the time

Yeah yeah. Congrats everyone on commencing their undergraduate careers.

But the purpose of this post is to remind and encourage everyone to continue posting on our dear blog. Yes we had some good posts over the past few months but the central reason for starting this blog was for the years ahead.

This is the forum where we can keep in touch and still be informed about each others lives when we are too busy to pick up the phone or drive a few hours to hang out.

This is the place where we can attempt to maintain a semblance of the day to day familiarity with each other's lives that we have come to be so accustomed with.

Lets not drop the ball

Jets Draft Picks and More

As I sat and watched Tony absorb every aspect of the 2006 NFL Draft (along with nearly every pistacchio in his bowl), I couldn't help but wonder if he was re-living past draft blunders in his head.

When Lineart was still available at 4, I was cheering for the Jets to grab him, and I couldn't understand why Tony refused to join me. How could he remain so nonchalant? Lineart would have been the number one pick had he chosen to come out of college last year. The guy's a proven winner.

Tabloid gossip, sportscenter segments, and Matthew "Limmer" Young will all attest to the fact that he's a "cool guy"... reminiscent of Broadway Joe... one broadcaster even made the comparison of Lineart to Namath ("he'd be going from Hollywood to New York"). Although presumably, 35 years from now, Lineart won't be "slumming it", drunk on the sidelines of an NFL game, getting denied by a woman of Suzy Kolber-caliber... (the only other female that I would group her with is the mom from "Webster," and I can't see Lineart hitting on either of them).

Suzy Kolber
NO

The mom from "Webster"
NO

The little girl from "Remember the Titans"
YES

What's more, Tony's scouting sheet (along with Mel Kiper) had Lineart pegged as the third highest rated player in the draft. How could Tony sit there and say that he would be happy with "the safe pick" of D'Brickashaw Ferguson? Who wants an offensive lineman when you need, and can grab, a franchise quarterback for your team?

Well, after viewing a video that's been floating around the Internet, I became a little more sympathetic towards Jets fans. Through the course of the one minute and a half-long montage, you can almost pinpoint the moments when the J-E-T-S faithful must have grown another degree more cautious, "gun shy," and suspicious that their organization could possibly be run by the writers of "Family Guy" (for more information see "Southpark")...

Copy and paste the following link to check out the past draft mistakes committed by the Jets organization. I'm sure every team has made their share of bone-head moves (the Eagles drafted Mike Mamula with the 7th pick in the '95 draft... Derrick Brooks, Ty Law, Warren Sapp, or Mike Mamula? Mamula's our guy!) but it's the fans reactions that really drive the montage and keep you begging for more agonizing groans and Jeff Lageman selections.
